Ask yourself that question: What is politics? What is it to you? Look it up in the dictionary, but before you do, write down your definition that’s in your head. Write it down. Put it in black and white.

 

Now, look it up. Just about any definition you see has something to do with government. I bet yours did. How is that? You have politics at work, at church, hospitals, universities, colleges, even sports teams. Now how can that be? Politics is supposed to be government related. How can you have politics all these other places?

 

It’s really quite simple. POLITICS has nothing to do with government. The definition of politics is so very simple.

 

POLITICS IS THE PURSUIT AND EXERCISE OF POWER.

 

Notice the period – the end of the statement. There is no more to politics than that.

What is power? That part is simple. Even the dictionary definition is simple.

 

POWER IS THE ABILITY TO EXERT ONE’S WILL OVER ANOTHER. “DOMINION” OVER OTHERS.

 

A POLITICIAN is then, by default, one who seeks dominion over others.
