I heard today that ABC conducted an interview with Newt Gingrich’s ex wife. A two hour interview in which she will have free reign to say what she thinks about Newt.
I read today that Bill Clinton, fine upstanding individual that he is, proclaimed that MSNBC was the liberal equal to Fox.
People, we have lost our way.
Not because of the liberals. Not because of the conservatives. Not because of the libertarians. Not because of the Nazis. Not because of Rush. Not because of Glenn Beck. Not because of Bill O’Reilly or Chris Matthews or Keith Olberman or Michael Savage or anyone else you can think of.
We have lost our press, you know, the FREE PRESS because we stopped listening.
There is no such thing anymore. There is no such thing as NEWS anymore. We all have to listen to some anchor giving us his opinion and we choose our evening news show by whose opinion we agree with. The only semblance of news we get is at 6 o’clock from the local station. The FREE PRESS was the last bastion of accountability that national politicians had to face. There was a time when it was important to report WRONGDOING, not to forward the agenda of your largest donor or supporter. Walter Cronkite, the most trusted face in America, was a socialist. But he, at least for an hour a day, put that aside and reported the news.
ENOUGH! News works on ratings just like any other television show. Turn the damned thing off!
This story that ABC is airing an interview with a presidential candidate’s EX wife is proof that ABC’s mission is not to report the news. ABC is acting on one reason and one reason only – to torpedo the candidacy of an individual that is capable of destroying Barack Obama in the presidential debates and could possibly beat him in a general election. It is to discredit him. News? Will it be News? No, it will be the stories of a woman scorned. Will it matter? Hell yes it will matter. No matter what the candidate says to refute, rebut or explain, our narcissistic society will sympathize with the woman. This agitates me and I’m not even a Newt supporter!
Shut ABC down for the biased, liberal rag they have become. Turn the television off and give that interview the lowest rating possible which is what it deserves. ABC may put it on the air, but YOU are responsible if it’s on YOUR set.
